About Us

Celiac Support Organization (CSO) is a registered NGO, established by a group of professionals (Pediatric Gastroenterologists and Nutritionists) in 2010 with a view to providing expert and independent information to general population and professionals on Celiac Disease.

We have more than 200 doctors and over 500 patients as our members. The society’s work is being increasingly commended by many sections of the society as it is relentlessly pursuing its mandate of providing help to celiac patients from all sections of the society. Donations to this society are exempt from income tax under section 80G.

Over the last 5 years, CSO has conducted more than 30 workshops, camps, lectures and awareness programs to train doctors, dieticians and Celiac patients all over the country. We have also approached FSSAI regarding issues related to gluten free diet and labelling. As a result of our intensive efforts the standards for gluten in Indian food has finally been gazatted.

Presently the CSO is striving to:

• To mount a public awareness campaign and programs through Government and private agencies.
• Encourage indigenous food manufacturers to do voluntary labelling on their products for their gluten content.
• Establish affordable government accredited labs for testing of finished foods for their gluten content where
  the food manufacturers can get their products tested and verified for their gluten content.
• Recommend removing (or lowering) taxes on certified gluten free products on the lines similar to that on
  Essential drugs as gluten free foods are the only known treatment for these patients.
