It was great interacting with teachers and students of the college. Their HOD Dr. Anita Malhotra was very knowlegeble about celiac disease and understood the need for the students to know more about this problem.
The highlight of the session was our conversation with Ms Rozy, a first year commerce student who was specifically invited by Dr. Anita as she is a celiac and is finding it difficult to maintain Gluten Free Diet (GFD) in the hostel and falling ill frequently. We guided Rozy about dietary management and possible contamination that she needs to be vigilant about and also asked her to get her blood tests repeated as she has not had any follow up in years and is still underweight. The audience was extremely enthusiastic and we had a good question/answer session.
Ms Upasana and her team had also organised prizes for top 3 questions which further peaked the students’ interest. Students also appreciated that they were given e-certificates of the attendance of the program.
The teachers’ level of personal interest for their students and the students’ enthusiasm made this session extra special.
